Canadian Experience Class

Here’s a walk-through of the application processes:

STEP 1


Get a Canadian work permit

You must have the right to work in Canada before you can proceed to apply for CEC. For some under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program or dependents, an open work permit may be an option. For others with a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment and Intra-Company transfers, they would be issued a specific work permit.

STEP 2


Work a complete year in Canada

A work experience that is less than 12 full months is never enough. You need to have worked for a year (or more, if part-time) to qualify for this class of Express Entry.

STEP 3

Take a language test

You need to get your language(s) test done. For English, candidates are encouraged to take the IELTS or CELPIP test. For French, the TEF and TCF are the available options. Candidates with ability in both English and French may get additional points.

STEP 4

Build your Express Entry profile

Your Express Entry profile is created on the IRCC website. You’ll provide some personal information, which includes your work history and your proof of language ability.

STEP 5

Improve your profile and ranking under the CRS

CEC candidates may improve their profiles by adding proof of their level of education. Most applicants who ignore these details stand a chance of losing about 250 points.
Applicants who study outside of Canada are awarded these points through an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). You either get an ECA or upload proof of your Canadian education to qualify for permanent residence.
Moreover, you may decide to complete an additional work experience or verify your eligibility under one of the Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program streams. A 600-point bonus awaits you if your skills and experiences are in high demand.

STEP 6

Receive an invitation to apply

Most applicants anticipate this phase because it is a guaranteed stage of permanent residency. When the Invitation to apply (ITA) has been sent, you have about 60 days to submit a complete application for yourself or your family, if applicable.

STEP 7

Provide a complete medical exam, provide background checks, and submit your e-application

All applicants under this program are properly screened. This ensures they are law-abiding citizens with clean health records. You will need to show that you have been thoroughly examined by an IRCC specialist.
You’ll provide a record that indicates places you have lived in from the age of 18. Emphasis on countries or cities you stayed in for six months minimally. Afterward, your e-application is submitted within 60 days of receiving your ITA. You must also input reference letters from past employers.
To meet up with the time frame, it is a good idea to prepare the aforementioned documents prior to your receiving an ITA.

STEP 8

Your e-application is reviewed

A Canadian immigration officer will review the e-application you submitted and let you know if you missed out on any important detail.

STEP 9

Receive confirmation of permanent resident status and complete your landing.

Know this, 80% of applications submitted under the Canadian Experience Class are processed within six months. After the approval of your application, you will receive a document that confirms your permanent residence.

STEP 10

Get your PR card

With your confirmation of status, you may then apply for your PR card. Whenever you travel outside Canada, you may decide to use this card as your proof of status in Canada.
