What is Express Entry?

The Canadian government has set up an online system known as Express Entry. This online system organizes and processes the application of skilled workers who intend to move permanently to Canada and obtain Canadian Permanent Residue status. The system is known to manage three federal economic programs.

These Streams are:

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

The first among the Canada Express Entry system programs is the Federal Skilled Worker. This program gives candidates with foreign work experience & no link to Canada the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.

Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

The Federal Skilled Trades (FST) is a program that is regulated under the Express Entry System. The FST uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to grade the interested candidates.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is considered one of the fastest means to get a Canadian permanent residency. This set up for applicants with work experience in Canada.

How Do I Apply?

The application for Express Entry is an easy one, as it only requires two steps:

The first step to take is to submit your profile. Submission of profile requires the following documents.

  • Educational credential assessment report
  • Language test results
  • Passport/ Travel documents

 

After submitting the profile, the applicant will be invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. At this stage, applicants must provide more documents while filling out the necessary applications.

These documents include the following:

  • Police clearance certificates
  • Results of medical examination
  • Reference letters
  • Additional identification documents.

Why Do I Need a RCIC Representative?

A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is the ideal professional to speak to on all matters related to Canadian immigration. This is because the individual is certified in Canadian immigration law and has the required license to handle Canadian immigration issues. All RCICs are governed by the Immigration Consultant Regulatory Council (IRCC).

Applicants should be informed that they must show proof of enough funds to handle their settlements in Canada. Only candidates with an employment offer and those under the Canadian Experience Class Program are exempted from this. The funds are not to be paid anywhere or given to the government. However, they must be accessible to the candidate before their permanent residence visa is approved.

The processing time for an Express Entry application can vary depending on several factors, including the volume of applications received, the complexity of individual cases, and the resources available to process them.

In general, processing times for Express Entry applications are usually within 6 to 12 months, but it can be longer or shorter depending on the individual circumstances of each case.

It is important to note that the Express Entry system is designed to be fast, and the majority of applications are processed within the 6-12 months time frame.
