Study In Canada
Why Study in Canada?

What is the Federal Skilled Trade Program?

Studying in Canada is a worthy investment – both now and in the future. Year in and year out, thousands of international students from across the world enjoy the privileges of studying in Canada.

Here are the reasons why they choose Canada over other countries as their destination for further studies:

Great Quality of Life

Globally, Canada ranks third for the best quality of life. You will get the same benefit as a citizen by being an international student, which entails human rights, freedoms and other diversity rights.

Convenient and Quality Education Options

Canada offers quality education and research opportunities from elementary to post-secondary studies. There are about 8,000 colleges and over 16,000 university programs to pick from. You may also transfer your program from one college to another seamlessly.

Welcoming and Diverse Environment

In Canada, you’ll easily feel at home everywhere you find yourself. You’ll also experience unique ethnic origins and languages that make Canada a safe and open society.

Affordable options

There are a lot of scholarships and work opportunities that can cater for your education. Most programs offer placements or internship options. International students are permitted to work and study. They can also access a Post-Graduation Work Permit upon graduation. Tuitions are not expensive compared to schools in countries like Australia, the U.K. and the U.S.

Long term Investment

Your qualifications are recognized and accepted internationally. That is a firm brick to building the career of your dream. Suppose you decide to stay in Canada or return to your country. In that case, the education and network you’ve gathered in Canada will stay with you forever and prepare you for a future with opportunities.

Memorable adventures

You’ll enjoy an enriching culture with its varied social setting in Canada. If you’re adventurous, you’ll experience the four seasons and explore the rural communities and urban areas. Also, you have a unique opportunity to study any of Canada’s official languages – English or French.

Why is Canada a good pick for international students?

International Students opt for Canada because of the following:

Canada’s Open Immigration Policies.

This policy on immigration appeals to international students. Their welfare is prioritized and post-study work visas and graduate employment opportunities are available.

To study in Canada, a prospective student must demonstrate that they:

  • Have gained admission into a university, college or other Canadian educational institution;
  • Is a citizen that abides by the law and is free of criminal charges.
Have enough money to cover tuition, living expenses, and return transportation.
  • Is healthy and willing to undergo a proper medical examination; and
  • Can convince the immigration officer that they will leave the country once their stay permit is expired.
Opportunity to Work on Campuses without a Work Permit

With a study permit, students can work in Canada under the following categories:

  • Without a work permit on campus
  • With a work permit off-campus
  • Placements and internship programs, as part of the curriculum – with a work permit.

After graduation, an international student may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). It is usually issued for the duration of the study program and lasts up to three years. The work experience gained under the PGWP may eventually add to the required years of experience for a permanent residence application.

Do I need a study permit and visa to study in Canada?

Most international students must apply for a study permit before being considered for Canadian studies. Hence, applying for a study permit before coming to Canada is important as only a few persons can apply for the permit within Canada. Before you apply, you must have received a letter of acceptance from at least one school in Canada.

It is important to note that your study permit isn’t a travel document. Your permit allows you to apply to Canadian schools for studies alone, not as an entry pass into Canada.

When your study permit is approved, you’ll get an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) or visitor visa aside from the study permit to allow you to travel.

Language requirements

The language requirement for studying in Canada can vary depending on the institution and program you wish to attend. However, the most commonly recognized language tests for study in Canada are the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF).

To be admitted to a Canadian institution, a student may be required to demonstrate proficiency in either English or French, depending on the language of instruction of the program. The minimum language proficiency requirements for most institutions range from an IELTS score of 5.0 to 7.0 for English-taught programs, and a TEF score of Niveau B1 to Niveau C1 for French-taught programs.

It is important to check the specific language requirements of the institution and program you wish to attend, as they may have their own unique requirements. Additionally, some institutions may also offer language support services to help international students improve their language skills while studying in Canada.
